Our previous Master student, Ms. Shuyao Lin, who is now a PhD student at the TU Wien, publishes her work in an article in Materials Today Physics, revealing that the thermal conductivities of antiferroelectric materials can be changed up to 50% by applying electric fields.

FAIRMat has appointed Prof. Dr. Hongbin Zhang as a new PI for its Task E4 on Magnetism and Spintronics.

We are pleased to welcome Fu Li who has joined TMM in November as a scholarship student from Guangdong University of Technology in Guangzhou China. Fu Li will focus his research on “Theoretical study on transport properties of floquet topological insulators”.

NHR Scholarship student from China

In September Wenling Ren has joined the TMM research group as a PhD student with the NHR Graduate School from the NHR Center for Computational Engineering Sciences (NHR4CES, https://www.nhr4ces.de). She has been awarded a scholarship for three years. She will be engaged in research on “Inverse Design of Functional Materials”.

We congratulate Ilias Samathrakis to his successful defense of his PhD dissertation. The topic of his thesis is: “Topological transport properties of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic materials“. For his future career we wish Ilias all the best.

Teng has successfully defended his PhD thesis

On 11 November 2021 Teng has successfully defended his PhD on “Multiscale Simulation of the Oxygen Redox Activity in Alkaline for Energy Applications“. It was nice to have Teng in our team for over three years and we are a little sad to see him leave to go back to China. We wish him all the best for his future and for his career in material science.

New Team Member in TMM

We welcome Kun Hu who has joined us on 4 October from the School of Material Science and Engineering of the Central South University in China. As an exchange Ph.D. student Kun Hu will be researching “high-throughput design of Co-based Heusler allows a multifunctional magnetic materials via substitutional doping”. He has been awarded a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council for two years.

New Team Member in TMM

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Tianshu Li as a new TMM team member. She has joined us as a post-doctoral researcher on 1 September 2021 from Jilin University in China.
