Office for Student Affairs

Advice and Support

Our employees will help you, amongst others, with the following questions and concerns: Study organisation and study counselling, part-time-studies, studying with a child, recognition of credit points, registration or deregistration of exams, registration of final modules, obtaining your transcript of records and final documents and the processing of sick notes.

The Office for Student Affairs of the Materials Science's Institute is responsible for all examination matters of the consecutive Bachelor and Master program “Materialwissenschaft” and “Materials Science” respectively.

Certificates and transcripts of records are provided exclusively by our Office for Student Affairs.

For other administrative matters, such as applications for studying as well as admission for studying at TU Darmstadt, change of course of studies, academic leave of absence etc., please turn to TU Darmstadt's Central Student Counselling Service (ZSB).

Binding for all students of TU Darmstadt are the “General Exam Regulations” (APB) and the “Implementation Regulations” for the respective courses of studies.

Re-examinations

Please note the contents of §31 of the General Exam Regulations of TU Darmstadt (APB) and “Referral to § 31 (1-3)” of the Implementation Regulations for both Bachelor and Master courses.

According to these, you are urgently advised to have a discussion with your mentor or professor after failing a first re-examination (“Fachprüfung”). Even if there is no obligation to have this consultation interview, you should take advantage of the counselling service at an early stage.

Please also note that the second re-examination of an exam, which is usually a written exam, may be taken as an oral exam if both the student and the professor(s) agree. However, should you fail again, no “Supplementary Oral Examination” (“Mündliche Ergänzungsprüfung”) can be repeated and the course of studies is terminated without degree.
