In solar cells, smartphones, wind turbines, electric cars and, and, and... Materials shape our future. Want to find out more?

Come to our next open day and immerse yourself in the world of materials! Here you can take a look at our laboratories, experiment yourself, talk to researchers and even hover on a real hoverboard! Of course, there are also special offers for study orientation waiting for you. As soon as the next date is fixed, we will announce it here. We look forward to seeing you!

TUDA Open Campus 2025

On May 25, 2025, the Technical University of Darmstadt will open its doors to the public! The TUDa Open Campus offers exciting insights into research, innovation and teaching.

Of course, materials science will also be there with a varied program: you can look forward to lab tours, hands-on workshops and live experiments.

Further information and the full program are available here

Materials science is a cross-sectional discipline that provides a variety of solutions for technical and socially relevant challenges, e.g. in the areas of energy, climate and environmental protection, mobility and health.

The focus here is on understanding the relationship between structure and properties in order to optimize the performance of materials and their manufacturing processes specifically for the respective application. Materials science is an interdisciplinary field at the interface between physics, chemistry and engineering.
