On December 16, the new Evonik lecture series kicked off at TU Darmstadt. The aim of this series is to strengthen the exchange and cooperation between Evonik and TU Darmstadt. Dr. Thomas Endres, Head of the “New Products and Materials” department at Evonik, gave a lecture entitled “The Importance of Drug Delivery Systems for RNA Therapeutics – Current Trends & Future Perspectives in Research and Industry.”

The presentation focused on current developments in the field of nucleic acid-based therapeutics. Particular attention was paid to customized drug delivery systems such as lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), which play a crucial role in the safe and effective administration of RNA drugs. In addition to applications in the fight against COVID-19, these systems also offer promising approaches in cancer research.

The event was organized in cooperation between Evonik and TU Darmstadt, with Prof. Oliver Gutfleisch, Dr. Marton Major, Prof. Jan-Philipp Hofmann, Maija Laux and Kirit Kaiser, among others, making a significant contribution to its success.

With a successful start, this event marks the beginning of a series of lectures intended to promote the exchange between science and industry. The format will be continued on a quarterly basis. The next lecture will be given by Thorben Schütz on the topic of “Sustainable methacrylates”.
