Welcome Prof. Till Frömling
New Research Group Functional Ceramics
2025/11/12 by R. Bischler
Till Frömling was appointed professor at TU Darmstadt in October. He will head the newly established Functional Ceramics research group at the Institute of Materials Science.
The chemist, who holds a doctorate from TU Wien, had already worked at the institute as a postdoctoral researcher from 2013 to 2024. From 2018 to 2024, he led a junior research group here as part of the NanoMatFutur program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. From 2023 to 2024, he also took over as head of the materials development research field within the High Performance Center GreenMaterials for Hydrogen at the Fraunhofer Institute for Recycling and Resource Strategy (IWKS). He then moved to the Jülich Research Center, where he was head of the electrochemistry department at the Institute of Energy Technologies (IET).
Frömlings new research group is dedicated to the sustainable synthesis and control of the functional properties of electroceramics. The research focuses both on the fundamental mechanisms underlying the functional properties and on application-relevant topics.
We are delighted to welcome Frömling back to our institute as a professor and wish him continued success!
