Bachelor Orientation Week

The Orientation Week (OWO) takes place one week before the start of lectures in the winter semester each and every year. The reason behind this week is to allow new students to have the opportunity to gain important information about the Materials Science course, as well as to get to know professors and their departments and to have the chance to be introduced into the basics of being a student at university.

The OWO is organized and carried out by the Student Council and motivated helpers, with help and backing from the faculty and professors.

The OWO includes:

  • A presentation of the professors and their departments
  • A tour of the campus Lichtwiese
  • A rally around the city centre

Additionally, an information booklet containing useful information for first years is handed out at the OWO.

The Bachelor Orientation Week 2023 will take place from 10.10.2023 to 13.10.2023. You can find the exact schedule below! In addition, below the schedule you will find a map section on which the lecture hall for the first event on Tuesday is marked.

Please note that the schedule is preliminary and may be subject to change.

We still recommend the online pre-course in mathematics (german only), so that you can prepare yourself for your studies and get in contact with other students.

The student council also provides a Discord server where you can network with other MaWis. Via the Discord Hub of the TU Darmstadt.

Use of Discord

We would like to point out that it is not necessary to join the discord server. Due to data protection reasons Discord is not the official communication platform of the orientation week. Nevertheless, the server is used to establish private contacts with other materials science students firsts during and outside the Orientation Week.
