Disputation by Thorsten Schneider

2024/04/17

Topic: “Impact of epitaxial strain on antiferroelectricity in NaNbO₃ and AgNbO₃ thin films”

Congratulations to Dr. Thorsten Schneider on the very successful defense of his doctoral thesis on sustainable antiferroelectric materials for the energy transition. Antiferroelectric materials are excellent energy storage devices in capacitors. However, current materials contain toxic lead, which is why green substitutes are being sought. Thorsten has made substantial contributions to basic research on thin films and has produced globally unique films using cool thin film methods. Thorsten has published successfully and presented his work at international conferences. Jurij Koruza from Graz University of Technology was involved as an external examiner.

We wish Thorsten the very best for his future and a good start at his new employer Zeiss!
