11.11. and at almost 11:11 a.m., the moment had arrived: Dr. Yating Ruan achieved her excellent doctoral degree in Materials Science. Yating was the first in our group to introduce so-called membrane technology. This involves detaching thin layers from their substrate so that they can then be transferred to any other substrate. This makes it possible to use the diverse functional properties of oxide perovskites for future electronics. A first example is a laser that was developed in collaboration with the group of co-supervisor Prof. Dr. Sascha Preu from Electrical Engineering. Yating was a valued participant in a series of international conferences from California to Mexico. We wish her all the best for the future!
