Piezoresistivity in nanocrystalline graphene

In this project, nanocrystalline graphene (NCG) will be investigated as a basis for transparent strain sensors. The starting point for this is the theoretical work, which predicts an increase of piezoresistivity in graphene by certain boundary lines. Although such an effect has not been described in the experimental literature so far, it seems – based on preliminary investigations – to exist.

The project aims to investigate the influence of interfaces, chemical functionalization and changes in band structure on the piezoresistivity of NCG. Theoretical and experimental methods will be combined.
