Characterization

3D Hall Probe Scanner

For an economic application a geometry optimization for specific required stray fields will be developed, nevertheless limited by the applicable production conditions in the AM process. The complex shape of printed parts is limited also by particle size and required postprocessing. Typically these parts possess complex stray field geometries which need to be characterized in a high quality to feedback into the design optimization.

Therefore a number of characterization setups are available:

  • 3D Hall Probe Scanner (own developed setup) for stray field analysis (in progress)
  • Metis Pulse Magnetometer (7 Tesla, also used for magnetization of parts), magnetization of parts, hard magnetic properties
  • Mechanical properties (Testing of compression forces, failure analysis, development of other test routines)
  • Density (Requires new approach for polymer/metal powder blends)
  • Check of geometrical deformation caused by material shrinking during e.g. L-PBF

To include the developments, the approach of machine learning is planned to be integrated to get a quicker screening of candidate materials, designs and process conditions. We are in the very beginning in strong cooperation with the AMC partners.
