The ERC Advanced Grant COOL INNOV aims for a breakthrough in efficient refrigeration by rethinking the whole concept of caloric cooling: instead of squeezing the best out of magnetostructural materials in relatively low magnetic fields, a second stimulus in the form of pressure will help to exploit the hysteresis.
