Over the past two weeks, we had the pleasure of hosting a bright and enthusiastic intern in our Functional Materials group at the Materials Science Institute at TU Darmstadt: Jaroslaw Fischbein from the Lichtenbergschule Darmstadt. While his time with us was brief, his curiosity and drive made a lasting impression.
During his internship, he dove into some fascinating and impactful topics, including:
- The social relevance of permanent magnets and magnetic cooling technology, exploring how these innovations can drive sustainable solutions.
- Understanding the relationship between microstructure and properties of magnetic materials—an essential step in designing advanced materials for real-world applications.
- Exploring the exciting possibilities of additive manufacturing for magnetic materials, enabling new possibilities in design and functionality
- Hands-on experience with scanning electron microscopy, learning to analyze microstructures with precision and attention to detail.
Internships like these are more than just technical lessons—they’re about sparking a lifelong curiosity and giving young talent a window into the exciting world of materials science.
