New Publication in Nature Communications

Related to our CRC/TRR270, we published in Nature Communications an article on “Two-gigapascal-strong ductile soft magnets”, the work is led by Liuliu Han from Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials and in cooperation with the Ernst Ruska-Centre for Microscopy at Forschungszentrum Jülich. We propose a new multicomponent nanostructuring design strategy that doubles the yield strength of soft magnetic materials while maintaining ductility. This design approach offers a pathway to two-gigapascal-strong ductile SMMs with moderately increased coercivity that can be tolerated in exchange for significantly improved mechanical performance for sustainable electrification.
