Dr. Sagar Ghorai, a postdoctoral researcher of the Functional materials group of TU Darmstadt has recently performed an inelastic neutron scattering experiment at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland. Across the magnetic phase transition, a temperature dependent broad quasielastic scattering has been observed, which supports the idea of spin-fluctuation in giant magnetocaloric materials. These results will help us understand the fundamental reason for observing the giant magnetocaloric effect in materials with first-order magnetic phase transition. This work is performed in collaboration with Uppsala University, Sweden.
