DIN standardization of magnetocaloric characterization published

2021/10/15

Under the lead of the Functional Materials group of TU Darmstadt, an international consortium of experts in the field of magnetocalorics has developed a standardization document for the correct measurement of the most important properties for caloric materials: isothermal entropy change and adiabatic temperature change. This “DIN SPEC 91373-2: Magnetocalorics – Part 2: Measurement of magnetocaloric properties” will be published in November 2021. It follows from our efforts to standardize the vocabulary and characterization procedures for magnetocalorics in order to meet the requirements for this emerging technology to be established on the cooling market. These efforts also include the first document “DIN SPEC 91373:2018-06 Magnetocalorics part 1 – Terminology”. Both documents can be accessed for free via www.beuth.de.
