Benedikt Beckmann receives the INNOMAG e.V. Diploma / Master Prize 2021

2021/10/12

The working group Magnetism of the German Physical Society (DPG) has awarded Benedikt Beckmann the Diploma / Master Prize 2021 at the Autumn Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section. The award recognises outstanding research in the context of a diploma / master thesis in the field of magnetism in theory, fundamentals and/or applications and its excellent communication in oral and written form. Benedikt Beckmann studied in his master thesis “Magnetocaloric, microstructural and mechanical properties of Ni-Co-Mn-Ti Heusler alloys” the development of the novel all-d-metal Heusler alloy with respect to its application in the multicaloric cooling cycle [1, 2]. Starting from the characterization of the as-cast state, Benedikt Beckmann optimized the heat treatment procedure and tailored the microstructure in order to obtain exceptionally good phase transition properties [3].
