  • The Department of Materials and Geosciences at Technical University of Darmstadt is offering a position within the research groups Theory of Magnetic Materials and In-situ Electron Microscopy as Researcher/Postdoc (all genders) – 100% in the Z05 INF project Sustainable Research Data Management of CRC FLAIR.

    The Electron Crystallography Group at TU Darmstadt is looking for support in the development of a 3D electron diffraction technique

    The Electron Crystallography Group at TU Darmstadt within the framework of CRC 1548 – FLAIR invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant (HiWi) (f/m/d) to support support in the development of a 3D electron diffraction technique. We offer a HiWi-contract of 40 (or potentially more) hours per month, for up to 3 years. The position is immediately available. Applications are accepted until the position is filled.

    We are a part of the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) FLAIR (Fermi Level Engineering applied to oxide electroceramics: https://www.mawi.tu-darmstadt.de/flair). Our scientific program within this project is focused on 3D electron diffraction and 4D STEM techniques like scanning precession electron diffraction. To support its development and application, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated HiWi who offers support with some of the programming tasks, including code implementation.

    Tasks:

    • Dedicated tasks according to ongoing software development in Python.

    • Improvement of the existing code base and implementation of new ideas.

    Requirements:

    • You are a Python enthusiast with programming skills.

    • You have interest in new, upcoming electron microscopy techniques and dedicated sample preparation.

    • You have education in physics, materials science, chemistry or related field.

    • Experience with electron microscopy or crystallography is very welcome, but not necessary.
