Xufei Fang receives Athene Prize 2023

TU Darmstadt recognizes outstanding commitment to teaching

Dr.-Ing. Xufei Fang, Athene Young Investigator and ERC Starting Grant group leader in the Department of Non-Metallic Inorganic Materials, receives this year's Athene-Preis für Gute Lehre (Athene Award for Good Teaching).

The jury's statement emphasizes “his excellent didactic skills, his outstanding commitment and motivation for teaching and students and his patient and cheerful manner”. The prize is endowed with €2000.

The Prize

The Athene-Preis für Gute Lehre (Athene Prize for Good Teaching) has been awarded annually since 2010 by the Carlo and Karin Giersch Foundation at TU Darmstadt to individuals, groups of people or organizational units in a subject or study area.

Nominations for the prize relate to best practice models and can recognize concepts, measures, projects, courses, personal commitment, procedures or other approaches in the field of teaching. Individuals or groups from all qualification levels – from students to professors – can be nominated.

The Prizes are endowed with a total of € 46,000. One prize is awarded in each faculty and one main prize is awarded from all faculty prizes. The TU Darmstadt Senate Teaching Committee forms the central jury for the special prizes under the leadership of the Vice President for Studies, Teaching and Diversity.

All prizes recognize academic teaching at TU Darmstadt.
