Welcome to Nirmal

New Team Member in TMM research group

2024/03/19

We are pleased to welcome Nirmal Kumar Ramalingam. He has joined our research group on 15 March as a PhD student.

Nirmal Kumar Ramalingam

Nirmal will be working as a PhD student on the project "Adaptive Design of Ni-Mn-Ga-X Heusler-alloys for use as magnetic shape memory alloys in the high temperature range“. This transfer project (T03) is within the framework of the project „Hysteresis-Design Magnetic Materials for efficient Energy Conversion“ (HoMMage) of the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio (CRC/TRR) 270.

His research will focus on performing density functional theory calculations for evaluating the Gibbs free energies. He will also use machine learning to construct thermodynamic phase diagrams of rare-earth based permanent magnets and other functional materials. Furthermore he will investigate how to quantitatively assess the thermodynamic stabilities of nanoparticles.
