Aluminum incorporation led to the formation of low-porosity (~2–4 vol%) ceramics exhibiting ultra-low thermal conductivity of 0.8 W/(m·K) at 900 °C

This work demonstrates that compositional tuning of aluminum content in Si-Al-C-N polymer-derived ceramic provides an effective route to tailor ceramic network structure and thermomechanical properties, paving the way for advanced applications in extreme environments.
