Research interests: Advanced synthesis and characterization of nanostructured functional materials

I possess more than ten years of progressive experience in the field of materials science spanning from bulk to thin films and nanoparticles, having worked at the Institute of Solid State Physics of University of Latvia (Riga, Latvia), IFW Dresden (Dresden, Germany), TU Darmstadt (Darmstadt, Germany) and National Institute for Materials Science (Tsukuba, Japan). My current research focuses on advanced top-down as well as bottom-up synthesis and characterization of nanostructured functional materials:

  • Gas-solid reactions (hydrogenation, nitrogenation, carburization, oxidation)
  • Hydrogenation disproportionation desorption and recombination (HDDR) and high-pressure reactive milling (HPRM) of intermetallic compounds
  • Net-shape production of Nd-Fe-B magnets by hot-deformation
  • Nanocomposite permanent magnets
  • Wet chemical synthesis of nanoparticles for biomedical applications.
