Our international team at Functional Materials at TU Darmstadt conducts fundamental and applied materials research for the fields of energy conversion, mobility, cooling, medicine and robotics as well as hydrogen liquefaction and storage. The focus is on advanced nanostructured magnetic materials, which are analyzed and modelled on all length scales, from the atom to the device. We explore their multi-responsiveness in engineering components exposed to different stimuli and operating environments. We are especially concerned with the criticality of technology metals and the design of materials and devices for circularity from the very beginning.

We are always looking for:

  • enthusiastic and highly talented PhD candidates holding a Master Degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent; and also
  • outstanding candidates for post-doctoral positions.

We offer an excellent career development in a challenging, fast-paced, interdisciplinary and respectful environment. The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and collaboratively, should have excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and scientific, oral and written. We expect sound knowledge in magnetism, metallurgy, materials processing and characterization, nanoscience and thermodynamics.
