Prof. Weidenkaff on the Scientific Advisory Council of the Federal Government

TU Professor Anke Weidenkaff has been newly appointed to the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) at the suggestion of Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze and Federal Research Minister Anja Karliczek.

The Federal Cabinet approved the new appointment today (14th). Prof. Weidenkaff is head of the research group of Materials Engineering and Resource Management at the Institute of Materials Science (Department of Materials and Earth Sciences).

The WBGU was established in 1992 to analyze global environmental and development problems and their consequences and to develop recommendations for action and research to the German federal government with a view to finding solutions. The up to nine members are appointed for four years and are scientists with special knowledge and experience in the field. Together with Prof. Weidenkaff, five additional new members were appointed for the eighth term of office of the Advisory Council, and three existing members were confirmed in office.
