The research in the Nonmetallic- Inorganic Materials Division is focused on the correlation between microstructure and mechanical properties as well as functional properties.

The scientific work is divided into the following areas:

A number of processing methods are available in order to accomplish different microstructure classes, to determine experimental their specific properties and to rationalize these with straightforward modelling efforts. Thus, a materials optimization is afforded which allows effective interplay between processing, testing and modelling. In particular, new lead free and high temperature piezoceramics can be obtained and extensively characterized electrically and mechanically.
